Visitors to Hanoi, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Ha Long can access free wi-fi to search for travel information.
Hanoi was the last of 10 cities in the country that offer free wifi service for tourists.
The service became available on September 1 at the area around the Hoan Kiem Lake.
With a mobile device, tourists can surf the Internet for free through the network "Freewifi_UBNDHANOI". Each session lasts 30 minutes. People can log in again to continue using the service.
The other cities that offer free wifi are HoiAn, Ha Long, Hue, Da Nang, Da Lat, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Recently, the central province of Phu Yen decided to provide free wifi in the city of Tuy Hoa.
In 2012, Hoi An became the pioneer in offering free Wi-Fi for local residents and visitors. The service has helped lure more tourists to the ancient town. However, the quality of free wifi service still needs to be improved.
