Export turnover of Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery products in the first ten months of this year was estimated at US$26.4 billion, up 6.3% over the same period last year.
The turnover reached US$2.75 billion in October alone, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In the ten-month period, export turnover of agricultural products reached US$12.5 billion, up 7.8% against the same period of 2015; seafood exports fetched US$ 5.7 billion, up 5.9% year-on-year; while principal forestry products saw a 0.1% increase to US$5.8 billion.
During October, the country exported 368,000 tonnes of rice worth US$164 million. In the ten-month period, the volume of exported rice hit 4.2 million tonnes, valued at US$1.9 billion, down 21.2% in volume and 16.9% in value, respectively in comparison to the same period last year.
China remains the largest importer of Vietnamese rice with a 35.4% market share, followed by Ghana and Indonesia with respective market shares of 11% and 8.2%.
Meanwhile, coffee shipments since the beginning of this year reached 1.5 million tonnes with an export value of US$2.76 billion, up 40.2% in volume and 25.4% in value.
Exporters of pepper and cashew nuts also achieved a major increase of 15.3% and 16.6% in value as the products’ shipments raked in US$1.29 billion and US$2.33 billion, respectively during the first ten months./.
