More efforts should be exerted to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, said Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.

Deputy PM Binh who is also chairman of the National Steering Committee on Combating Smuggling, Commercial Fraud, and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389) made the request while working with authorities of the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on January 9.
The Deputy PM spoke highly of achievements obtained by An Giang province in socio-economic development and ensuring national security and defence over the past years as well as the province’s efforts in combatting smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
He also emphasised the importance of raising public awareness of the harmful effects caused by smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, and urged An Giang to focused on inspections in a bid to bring to light those facilitating such illegal acts or those not fulfilling their assigned tasks.
Also on January 9, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh paid a visit to the Tinh Bien international border gate in Tinh Bien district and Vinh Nguon border checkpoint in Nui Sam ward, Chau Doc city.
He also presented 50 bicycles to impoverished students from ethnic minority groups in the two border districts of Tinh Bien and Tri Ton.
