Binh Dinh Province is implementing drastic solutions to the development of local industrial bases.
More support for rural industrial production
During the period from 2012-2015, the province funded VND9.18 billion for local industry promotion programs and projects, helping local industrial bases upgrade machinery and equipment, organizing fieldtrips and voting outstanding rural industrial products.
These industry promotion programs and projects proved effective. For example, technical demonstration models attracted more than 90 percent of corresponding capital while used only less than 10 percent of the funding, which encouraged local industrial bases to bravely invest in modern production technologies. Some vocational training projects were also appreciated.
This year, the province has three national industry promotion projects approved with total funding of VND900 million, including a VND350-million bio-fuel technical demonstration model implemented by the Thien Hoang Construction and Trading Co., Ltd, a VND200-million unbaked cement roof tile production project implemented by the Binh Dinh Construction Stone Processing Cooperative and a VND350-million unbaked concrete brick technical demonstration model implemented by the Binh Dinh Tunnel Brick Joint Stock Company.
Improving sales promotion links
The Binh Dinh Province Department of Industry and Trade annually organizes local and regional cooperation development programs. For example, 28 memoranda of understanding were signed at workshops on commercial link development for businesses in Binh Dinh, An Giang and Dong Thap provinces. Another workshop on goods supply and demand link promotion for businesses in Binh Dinh and other provinces and cities in the central region and Central Highlands also witnessed the signature of six memoranda of understanding and eight sales agreements.
In addition to promotion workshops, the department also held regular fieldtrips to local rural industrial bases to get known of production and market development and branding conditions. They found out that local rural industrial bases failed to improve production competitiveness and management capacity due to low levels of funding support, which covered only 50-70 percent of the total needed amount.
In the coming time, more measures will be taken to boost rural industrial development, including promoting effective industry promoting models, coordinating with related agencies in technological and market R&D, linking goods supply and demand for local business and partners in the central region and Central Highlands.
There are 22,872 rural industrial bases in Binh Dinh Province, of which, about two percent are small and medium enterprises with the rest being family businesses reaching VND4 trillion production value each year and accounting for 30-35 percent of the province’s total industrial production value. |
