Central province of Quang Ngai bestows recognition on Doosan Vina for its CSR activities.
Doosan Vina has spent more than $5.5 million on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission to “Build Healthy Communities” in Vietnam and was recently recognized by the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee as an “Enterprise of Excellence”.
“Doosan’s corporate motto is ‘Building Your Tomorrow Today’ and that describes the role of the products the company builds, such as power plants, saltwater desalination plants, cargo container cranes, and high-tech structural steel,” said Mr. Yeon In Jung, CEO of Doosan Vina, upon hearing of the recognition from the central province.
“These all go to improving the lives of people here in Vietnam and the world over,” he went on. “Our CSR philosophy fits hand-in-glove with our motto because the three focuses of our CSR programs - healthcare, education and housing - all contribute directly to the building of healthier and sustainable communities.”
In relation to healthcare, Doosan Vina has provided medical services in cooperation with Chung An University (CAU) in Seoul, South Korea, and Internourish from the US, including examinations, medicine, vitamins and medical equipment to more than 15,000 residents in central Quang Ngai and Quang Nam provinces.
In education, in association with Doosan’s Yongkang Foundation it has presented annual scholarships to university students all over the country and sponsored teaching equipment worth more than $250,000.
In 2016 Doosan Vina signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ho Chi Minh City Technology University and the Ho Chi Minh City Social Science and Humanity University over cooperation in human resources, internships and scholarships.
The company has also organized programs to clean and repair schools, teach students in Quang Ngai province, and provide support to students during the 2015 and 2016 exam season.
Doosan Vina was notified of it being named as an “Enterprises of Excellence” for its CSR activities in an official letter from the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee.
Doosan Vina is a high-tech industrial complex at the Dung Quat Economic Zone in Quang Ngai, where it employs nearly 2,500 Vietnamese people.
The company supplies the mega infrastructure products that make modern life a reality.
Such products include boilers for thermal power plants, desalination plants the size of a football pitch that turn saltwater into fresh water, material handling systems like the cranes that are at the heart of logistics at ports around the world, and high-tech structural steel for construction.
In 2014 the company’s exports reached $200 million and in 2015 are expected to have reached $300 million.
