Bitexco to build $25 million resort around nutrient-rich hot springs.
The central province of Thua Thien Hue has approved a VND545 billion ($24.5 million) investment project from the Bitexco Group to build the My An Hot Springs Resort.
The resort is located in Phu Vang district and covers an area of 36,762 sq m.
It will include a conference center that can cater to up to 300 people, a traditional Japanese Onsen bathing and spa area, a floating restaurant, villas, a five-star hotel, and community service areas.
The resort will also feature a special swimming pool and soaking system, which is divided into different sections with different temperatures.
Construction will begin in September and is expected to be completed in August 2017.
The My An Hot Springs Resort is one project to be implemented under a cooperative agreement between the province and the Bitexco Group.
The Group will also invest in tourism infrastructure of international standard and high-end tourism products, including a luxurious resort under the group’s Aman Resort brand in Hue with estimated investment of $8.5 million and a complex with a shopping mall and luxury apartments called The Manor along the city’s To Huu Street with investment of VND600 billion ($27 million).
My An’s mineral springs contain micronutrients that are good for the health and can be compared with famous hot springs around the world, such as Koundour in Russia and Paven Banis in Bulgaria.
As at the end of July Thua Thien Hue had 89 registered FDI projects with total investment capital of about $2.3 billion, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
It is not only famous for its natural landscapes but also for its cultural heritage as Vietnam’s former imperial capital. Tourist arrivals reached 1.69 million in the first six months of this year, including 610,000 foreigners, an increase of 6.4 per cent year-on-year, according to the Thua Thien Hue Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
