Large-scale logistics center for Bac Giang

Center to be transit point for goods flowing along the Trans-Asia Highway.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh worked with the Bac Giang Provincial People’s Committee on October 30 over the construction of a large-scale logistics center in Bac Giang city.

According to the provincial people’s committee the logistics center is cover an area of 94.3 ha in the city’s Dong Son and Song Khe communes, at the intersection of arterial roads and near the northern province’s main railway station and Dong Son Port, which is favorable for goods transport by inland waterway to Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province.

The center will serve as a transit point for goods on the Trans-Asia Highway - the economic corridor from China’s Nanning city to Vietnam’s Lang Son province, Hanoi, Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh province, north-south roads, and roads in the northeast and northwest regions.

The province plans construction in the form of a logistics park, consisting of a combination of warehouses, wharves, a green park, a reservoir, worker housing, and a trade and services area, and is rolling out the red carpet for investment in the facility, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee Duong Van Thai said.

He emphasized that the construction of the center was an important mission of the province to 2020.

Bac Giang will establish a steering committee to assist in project implementation and complete detailed planning in the first quarter of 2016. Mr. Thai also asked ministries to support the province in planning, organizing the capital structure, and developing mechanisms and policies to attract investment.

At the working session Deputy Minister Tuan Anh said the best possible conditions will be provided to Bac Giang to successfully build the center, which will help tap local advantages and fuel socioeconomic growth.

He also asked local authorities to carefully examine the project to ensure its feasibility, conduct thorough land use planning, calculate the appropriate level of investment, and closely coordinate with investors to work out the principles in project implementation.
