The ecotourism resort in Lang Son province will include pristine nature, five star accommodations and a cable car to a mountain peak.
The work on the 5.7 kilometer-long-cable car starting from Bang Khanh Commune to the Chan May area on the top of Mau Son Mountain in Lang Son province has begun.
Based on Austrian advanced technology, the first cable system in the region is expected to be put into operation in April 2018, with the transport capacity of 2,000 persons per hour, or 1.6 million people per year.
The cable car system at $133 million, is the first phase of a large construction project in the Mau Son Snow Mountain entertainment and ecotourism area. The total investment of nearly VND 9 trillion ($400 million) in three phases, is funded by Mau Son Snow Mountain Joint Stock Company.
Along with the cable car system’s construction, and the opportunity to enjoy nature and outdoors activities, a range of other facilities will be constructed including a resort in a French architectural style with 600 rooms ranging from two to five stars, a cultural centre and a service area. The project will be implemented from 2017 to 2020 and the investors have the legal right to operate it for 50 years.
On over 1,200 hectares, the ecotourism area is expected to become a compelling destination, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign visitors, according to the Lang Son province. The project is also expected to create jobs for more than 2,500 local people, contributing to the region’s economic development.
Only 30km away from the centre of the city, Mau Son tourist area itself has more than 80 large and small mountains, of which the highest is Nui Cha Mountain which is 1,541 meters high and Me Mountain 1,520 meters.
The area is endowed with a biodiversity system with more than 1,500 hectares of primeval forest which is home to many rare flora and fauna species. There are many streams falling from the peak to the foot of the mountain, creating magnificent waterfalls.
The climate is temperate and the average temperature is 15 degrees Celsius so it is cool in summer and very cold in winter. During the period of French colonization, Mau Son was a favorite hill station for the French upper class in Vietnam in the summer and on holidays. Many French style villas were built here, but during the wars, many of them were destroyed.
Visitors to Mau Son have an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful landscape, fresh atmosphere and learn about local traditions and the fascinating culture of the Dao, Tay and Nung ethnic minority groups by joining in their daily life.
