The south central Khanh Hoa province’s Department of Tourism announced on December 20 that the number of foreign arrivals to Nha Trang city until the end of November has increased by over 170% to 1.8 million people against the same period last year.
The department said the number of Chinese visitors topped the list of foreign tourists to Nha Trang accounting for more than 1.1 million, up over 230% compared to last year’s corresponding period, followed by Russians at 401,000, an increase of over 173%.
The provincial department noted foreign visitors to Nha Trang are mainly from China and Russia, while there is a downward trend of 10-25% in the numbers of visitors from the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, France, and Germany.
Revenues from the tourism sector in 2017 are estimated at VND17 trillion, up 30.8% over last year. This year, the number of holiday-makers is projected to be more than 5.4 million, up nearly 20%, with foreign arrivals making up 2.02 million, a rise of 73.4%.
