Accordingly, the route spans 46 kilometers, starting from Km0+00 (meeting the Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Expressway) in Y Yen district’s Yen Bang commune and finishing at Km46+00 (the Lach Giang Lighthouse Station) in Nghia Hung district’s Nghia Phuc commune.
The project will be implemented from 2017 to 2020 at a total costs of approximately VND5 trillion (US$220 million).
It aims to reduce the travel time between Nam Dinh’s sea economic region and the North-South Expressway, increase the province’s connectivity with the regional transport network and the national traffic road system, and fully promote the efficiency of the projects already finished and currently underway in the region.
The project will also contribute to creating socio-economic breakthroughs, boosting tourism in Nam Dinh’s sea economic region in particular and in Nam Dinh province and the Red River Delta region as a whole, ensuring security and national defence as well as flood prevention and control, and step by step completing the provincial traffic network in line with the Nam Dinh transportation development plan until 2020, with a vision to 2030.
