Phu Yen needs to boost tourism and service development: PM

Phu Yen province needs to fully tap its potential and advantages for tourism and service development, and outline action strategies, plans and programmes with specific goals in order to develop tourism into its spearhead economic industry.

The directions were issued by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc during his recent meeting with key leaders of Phu Yen.

He asked the province to focus on developing tourism infrastructure and promoting the effectiveness of key transport infrastructure projects such as Deo Ca tunnel, Cu Mong pass tunnel, National Highway 1, the North-South Expressway and Tuy Hoa Airport to create breakthroughs for the province’s tourism sector.

Phu Yen should attract and create favorable conditions for tourism businesses by strengthening institution and developing tourism brands; developing diverse and unique tourism products, particularly ecotourism, resort and nature exploring; and boosting regional links and links with other localities nationwide to develop tourism together, the PM said.

He insisted the province review and complete socio-economic development planning associated closely with regional planning; strengthen regional links to expand development space and make optimal use of the local advantages; protect and develop forests; and preserve and promote the values of historical and cultural relic sites.

The government leader urged Phu Yen to carefully assess the environmental impacts and take effective environmental protection measures for the Vung Ro Oil Refinery Plant project, economic zones and industrial clusters; give priority to combating droughts and shifting the structure of crops in line with local climate and soil; and effectively implement the agricultural restructuring project associated with building new-style rural areas.

The province also needs to pay attention to improving the spiritual and material life of the local people; providing better care for national contributors; ensuring social security and sustainable poverty reduction; and developing highly qualified human resources, he added.
