Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited the VinEco high-tech agriculture project in Vinh Bao district’s Tam Da commune in the northern port city of Hai Phong.
The project is one of the Vingroup-invested projects specialising in cultivating fruits and vegetables of high quality, optimal safety standards and high economic value.
With a total investment capital of VND189 billion (US$8.5 million), VinEco Hai Phong is among twelve farms of VinEco Agriculture Investment, Production and Development Co., Ltd, an affiliate of Vingroup, across the country.
The project covers 46 hectares in total, including 28 hectares in outdoor cultivation land, 10.7 hectares in greenhouse and net house land, and 1.3 hectares for supporting facilities.
Touring the process of cultivating fruits and vegetables, PM Phuc applauded and spoke highly of Vingroup’s investment in high-tech and organic agriculture projects, which he said, was a significant direction for Vietnam’s agriculture sector at the present time.
The model will help increase labour productivity and provide the market with clean and safe farming products – an increasing demand of consumers nowadays, he said.
The government leader noted that combining businesses and farmers is a new effective direction that needs to be accelerated and multiplied in the process of building new-style rural areas and boosting agricultural development.
He urged investors, engineers and employees of the VinEco Hai Phong project to comply with the committed procedures, particularly concerning the food safety criteria, to ensure the project be effectively implemented and meet the people’s demands.
Alongside doing business, investors should also enhance support for local people and create jobs for those who gave-up land for the project, so that they will still have employment and an income to stabilize their lives, he added.
PM Phuc suggested investors research and establish typical farming products of the region, which are qualified for both domestic consumption and exports. Regular supervision and close monitoring should also be given priority in order to deliver safe products to consumers, he noted./.
