The Government chief made the remark today while working with the local authorities of Hai Phong.
Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Van Thanh reported that in the first nine months, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached a record high of 10.58% since 2010. Export turnover valued over US$ 3.8 billion. FDI attraction touched US$ 2.66 billion, making Hai Phong the largest FDI recipient.
However, the economic boom has put heavy pressure on transport, urban, and socio-economic infrastructure. In addition, the city is also facing budget imbalance and low development-directed investment.
PM Phuc said that Hai Phong boasts comparative advantages with the most important sea port in the North and growth impetus in the Northern key economic region.
Top 10 in administrative reform
PM Phuc asked the city to exert effort to become an important driving force for national development and contribute more to national budget.
The northern city was asked to implement action plans to realize the Government’s Resolution 19, 35, and 60 on improving the investment environment, business, and competitiveness, enterprise development, and investment disbursement.
“The whole system must move to serve people and enterprises,” he added.
According to PM Phuc, the city must work for a place in Top 10 in administrative reform and raise the number of SMEs to 100,000.
