Power Transmission Company No.1: Further efforts to fulfill annual plan
The Power Transmission Company No.1 (PTC1) is taking a variety of measures to ensure safe, stable operations of power supply systems and fulfill its annual plan.
The company currently manages 50 transformer stations with total capacity of 25,718MVA, 1,910km of 500kV power transmission lines, and 3,694km of 220kV power transmission lines, which led to the growth in power transmission output of 15-18 percent annually to 56.11 billion kWh last year, said PTC1 Director Pham Le Phu.
Despite numerous difficulties and challenges including higher electricity consumption in the peak time of summer and power transmission line overloads in the first half of this year, PTC1 and its subsidiaries successfully fulfilled their assignments, ensuring stable and sufficient power supplies for socioeconomic development, especially major events in Hanoi, such as the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, National Assembly and People’s Council elections, and the national higher school graduation examination. Power transmission output in the first half of 2016 reached an estimated 29.57 billion kWh, equal to 46.7 percent of the annual plan, and up 10.1 percent compared with the same period last year.
Also in the first six months, the company invested VND349 billion in construction and started work on two 220kV power transmission projects. Regarding major repairs, 78 projects have been finished and 22 are underway. PTC1 has also conducted a number of regular repairs to enhance the reliability of power systems.
However, a big challenge is that in the first half of the year, power loss rate remained higher compared with the plan, with 47 incidents occurring on power transmission lines due to thunder strikes.
Drastic measures
Along with ensuring safe and stable operations of power transmission systems in the northern region and Hanoi in particular, PTC1 is striving to fulfill its second-half construction investment plan. The company expects to put into operation five 220kV power transmission projects and complete 108 major repairs in the second half of the year.
To fulfill these targets, according to Director Pham Le Phu, all staff members of the company need to enhance their sense of responsibility and concentrate on improving technical management to prevent incidents and ensure safe operations of power systems. The company and its subsidiaries will take the initiative in coordinating with the National Load Dispatch Center and its affiliates at all levels to register necessary power cuts for major and regular repairs and installation of lightning protection systems.
PTC1 and its subsidiaries will make necessary preparations to prevent flood damage and cope with natural disasters while at the same time taking decisive measures to reduce power losses in order to fulfill their annual plans.
In addition, PTC1 and its subsidiaries will accelerate and improve the quality of construction investment projects. Further efforts will be taken to promote human resource development and implement major tasks as guided by the Member Council and the Directorate of the National Power Transmission Corporation.
