Topsides weighing more than 5,000 tonnes part of gas extraction platform BK Thien Ung have been successfully launched by the Vietnam-Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro.
The firm confirmed on September 13 that BK Thien Ung is a super-size structure, weighing more than 15,000 tonnes. It delivers gas extracted from the Thien Ung and Dai Dung fields to the mainland.
The platform is included among projects in the master plan for gas exploration in the Nam Con Son Basin, which is located in the southern continental shelf of Vietnam.
In June 2015, the base of BK Thien Ung was inaugurated and installed at Thien Ung field.
BK Thien Ung, invested with over US$1 billion in total, is set to become operational this November.
It will generate a maximum output of more than 3 million cubic metres of gas per day by 2019.
The project, which took over two years to complete, is Vietsovpetro’s biggest project ever constructed. It was invested in by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Russian oil producer OAO Zarubezhneft./.
