The VND1.2-trillion complex is expected to spur Yen Bai’s socio-economic growth (Credit: VNA)
MCC Trading Investment Joint Stock Company commenced the construction of the Yen Bai Mountain Economic Complex at Nam Khat Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province on October 3.
The VND1.2-trillion project covers a total area of 150 hectares and is scheduled for completion in July 2017. The complex includes a tea and medlar factory, a bio-coal plant and a healthcare resort.
The tea and medlar factory and bio-coal plant, with a projected capacity of 700,000 tonnes per year, are expected to generate jobs for more than 200 local workers, who will earn from VND5 million to VND6 million per month.
In addition, the MCC Trading Investment Joint Stock Company will support local people in intercropping saffron with medlar trees. The company has undertaken to purchase saffron at VND5,000 per kilogramme.
Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony, Nguyen Van Khanh, Deputy Chairman of the Yen Bai Province People’s Committee, stressed the important role of the project in the socioeconomic development of Yen Bai Province in general and Mu Cang Chai District in particular.
The Deputy Chairman also said that the province would coordinate closely with the investor, MCC Trading Investment Joint Stock Company, on constructing and promoting the efficiency of the economic complex./.
